Regarding the tories:
We've also had Liz Truss losing 30bn quid in one week because she was criminally reckless and stupid, we had billions of public money stolen by the tories through the PPE and TrackandTrace scandals.
Brexit was driven by the tory right, and the the tory press lied on their behalf.
Thatcher privatised the water industry, which has led inevitably to our rivers and sea being full of shit.
I agree, Truss was not only a massive mistake but a huge disappointment given she was billed as the reincarnation of my hero Maggie.
With regard to PPE, Furlough, and, let's not forget, the Nightingale hospitals at £60M a pop, it depends on your perspective. While I was stunned at how the government literally handed over cash without any checks or balances, one could argue it was the right thing to do at the time, given everyone was shit scared of dying. Personally, I'd far rather they threw money away rather than clamp down on bureaucracy. What should have happened was for the Royal Commission to look into ALL payments made by the government at that time, with powers to recover funds where appropriate.
I agree with Margaret Thatcher. It is not the government's role to run businesses and provide employment. Where it all falls down is the likes of OFWAT, either not having enough power or not really doing their job properly and sanctioning the arse off, in this case, the water companies.

Wanna know why I'm a moaning caaant? This is why.
A guy has a 2011 PC running W7, but Office won't activate on it. He sends us a second PC he's found and asks us to transfer everything over. The only trouble is that it's that old story: "If it's slung up the back of a cupboard, there's a reason." It's a 2009 PC!
I offer him an i5, 32GB 256 M.2 plus M365; he tries to tell me they have a bunch of M365 licenses and "Can't we use one of those?" after telling him to basically fook off, he then says, "Well, you can have it here in a bit can't you?" I have to explain that; basically, he's wasted the morning, and now our guys are starting lunches, and if he's lucky, he'll have it this afternoon.
Why do people take three weeks to decide and then think they can have it within the hour?

if your preferred candidate doesn't win you get no representation of your views.
If there is someone with a realistic chance of winning who partially represents your views and you vote for them you may at least get some representation.
And of course if everybody does that the parties that are least worst get in.
Where it falls down even more is it the least worst option crosses some red lines. Then you either vote for something you don't agree with, vote for someone who you know won't get in or stay home.
I can't really blame people for staying home. If a party wants people to vote, then convince them. "Voter apathy" is really blaming the wrong people.
I don't believe in proportional representation; I think that only increases the chance of someone "Getting in" who one didn't vote for. I think it's a problem that's getting worse in everyday life, tbh. There is far too much choice. You should see my arguments around my local fish & chip shop.

So, will he be forcing people who sell their homes to accept the first offer made by a prospective buyer? What about car auctions? Must they accept the first offer?
How on earth will this work? Will he set rental tariffs on all properties? That's a lot of work. Who is going to manage that, and where will the money come from to run it? Will Landlords feel it's a worthwhile market to stay in, or will they sell all their properties? In this case, how does that help the housing shortage when there are even more properties on the market that only a few can afford to buy?
Maybe some Housing Ombudsman who you can moan to? But how long will it take to resolve your case while you're waiting on the streets?
Even Kier Starmer himself couldn't answer that question last night because not only is it a stupid, unworkable fop to the voter. Yet again, it's Labour looking to take from someone who has something. I'm convinced (For the minute) ReformUK will be the opposition. That's still "In" in my book.
What needs to be taken into consideration is that parties like the Greens are picking up [tactical] votes. I'm really worried the Tories could be fourth or worse. Some might naively think that's good, but it will be terrible for the UK, in my opinion. This country needs an experienced, established opposition.

The attached image is a bit out of date (Labour 406 seats). I saw a projection yesterday that Labour would gain 526 seats. My own view is the Greens are pathetic, LidDem are useless, SNP (Who?) NI, Plaid and the rest of the Heinz 57 lot will never be able to form a viable safety net. Having said that, who knows what will happen on polling day? We've seen the pollsters get it massively wrong before.
Watching some of the posts on 𝕏, it just shows how little people actually know about the workings of Parliament. Some posters clearly think our MPs spend every day in the chamber debating. 🤦♂️

My butcher agrees with me. As a fellow Tory voter, he agrees that the Conservatives are going to lose—and lose big-time. He also agrees that it looks like Farage wants to make sure the Conservatives are so far down the food chain that they no longer pose a threat.
I put my theory to him regarding 2030 and that Farage's current plan is geared towards that, to which he responded: "I hadn't thought of that, you know, you might be right. Everyone is so focused on this election, and he's already said his party, currently, does not have the experience to run the country."
But they might have by 2030!

Farage has changed the Tories without actually taking over (yet). He uses racism and nostalgia for what UK may have been and can't be again. I'm suspicious of his motives and those who back him.
This election could break the Tory party, but they brought it on themselves.
Labour are not being as radical as I would like, but they are fishing for votes from all sides.
Interesting times...
We're at a crossroads. Reform UK offers a possibility for change (which in itself is disliked by some who would rather preserve things as they are).
If people don't vote for them, or are dissuaded/pressured not to do so, then it could be an opportunity lost for many more decades to come and we'll be back where we are right now. Except, people will have no cause to complain.
It's a classic situation. People spout off about how they want change, a different kind of politics, and yet never actually tell you what they want. Then, when someone does come along offering a different choice, the very same people who wanted change are all up in arms.
This is the very same mentality as people who say they are dedicated to freedom and then start demanding rules, codes of conduct, and moderators. What they actually want to do is control the narrative, especially people's thoughts. They would be the first to resurrect The Tokubetsu Kōtō Keisatsu (Thought Police.)
The Conservatives seem determined to commit political suicide!

I thought Rhun ap Iorwerth - Plaid Cymru did pretty good tbh. I felt sorry for Carla Denyer - Green Party. Mishal Husain didn't give her as much leash as the rest of them; in fact, she seemed to cut her short A LOT. Farage was Farage. Daisy Cooper - Liberal Democrats was, hmm? Stephen Flynn - Scottish National Party spent most of his time attacking Labour, which was fun.
The main stars were, of course, Angela Rayner - Labour and Penny Mordaunt - Conservatives. All that was missing between those two was a bit of hair-pulling and a lost shoe. I did notice how, at the end, they were very chatty, in fact, rather friendly. #politics, aye?
Who came out on top? I'm not sure, TBH. Strangely, I thought it was a tie between Rayner and Mordaunt, with Farage a close third.

I haven't enjoyed the last two days. They have been filled with people complaining that they have to pay for repairs to their computers, stunned that quotes for equipment are more than £3.27, and irritated that they've had to wait more than thirty seconds to be shown how to merge two cells in Excel even though we don't even offer that type of support contract.

Reality is always very different. #HoHum
So this is a good manifesto promise, but let us not forget it was introduced by the Conservatives in 2021, so it's not a Labour idea at all!

See, it's a clever stance to say what one is not habitually; it's designed so that the individual can't be pinned down a bit like those who sit on the fence so that no shit splatters on them while they pass judgment on others.
I have yet to see you say anything positive or negative about Labour, Lib Dems, Greens, etc. I have seen you state unease about RefomUK, but I get the feeling that it's just Farage-related rather than any ReformUK policy offerings. Then again, I could be wrong about that because of your "I'm not" stance. 🤣
Labour definitely have issues with internal division. They have given up on some of their principles. but so have other parties.
I would probably be most in favour of the Greens on environmental issues, but may differ with them on other matters.
Lib Dems seem like the compromise party, but they lost a lot of trust by going in with the Tories. Maybe they will recover a bit this time.
Very few people are party members these days and most will vote in their own interest. It can be hard to see who will deliver on that. FPTP may mean our votes don't really count, so we have to compromise.
I don't feel I have to swear allegiance to any one party, but we can judge the Tories on their record.
I am in favour of a fairer society where everyone gets a fair chance. Nobody should be struggling to feed their kids when we have lots of billionaires and CEOs paid millions.
See, again. That's not strictly true. Yes, Farage was associated with them, but he wasn't running the party. I know he is now, and he may well have helped write the manifesto, but I will say from people I've spoken to, including business owners, their policies are striking a cord.

I've not seen any PPBs. There's too much focus on the leaders anyway. I don't care where they came from as it's what they will do that matters.
Farage is a force in his own right with some rich backers who may prefer to stay in the shadows. I don't trust him at all. Do you really believe Brexit was about what you and I would gain?
There's probably policies from every party that I might like, but I could never support anything to do with Farage.
