Remember children. While you were busy making as many posts as possible to "Get the Tories out", you let Farage in!

Don't forget to thank all those who relentlessly slagged the Conservatives off across all the Social Media platforms, including biased journalists, on the 4th of July. You deserve all you get.

It's the Tories who are to blame for his success. They could have condemned his extremism, but embraced it instead. The polls show that is not what people want.
Just keep that shitface off my feed please.

You deserve all you will get, my friend.

I blame people for not understanding that the vast majority are unhappy and, at the very least, offering them a solution that isn't guaranteed to anger them even more.

On the whole, the majority of the British public is happy to be treated like shit. I'm not saying that's right; I'm simply saying they've been used to it for over twelve hundred years; it's in our DNA, so what the Tories did during COVID angered the voters, but they forgot about it two weeks later. What the British public doesn't like is squeezes on their money and services so that when the BBC reports two, three five hundred boat people at a time landing on the UK shores as a way of embarrassing the government, it actually has a different effect and makes the voter listen more and, more to the likes of Farage who tells them the reason there are no appointments and less money in their pockets is because of all the immigrants "Coming over here and taking all our jobs."

If more people stood up to be counted and said they only backed legal immigration, Farage wouldn't have a leg to stand on, but all these people championing boat people are too dumb to realise they're actually the ones helping Farage's cause.

Remember what I said to you: "The problem with Farage is what he says has an element of truth to it." blustering, beating one's chest, and gnashing one's teeth actually makes him stronger. We need to take away his ammunition, I would say, by getting behind the Stopping the Boats campaign and temporarily placing illegals on barges because nothing enrages Brits more than when they see illegals put up in the Holiday Inn while UK citizens can't even get a council house.

Neither of us is dumb, and we both know the Tories are architects of their own downfall. I also don't believe Farage's current success is race-related. He's talking the language of a much bigger majority than the tiny majority that hates his guts; it's as simple as that.

You really have it in for me if you think I deserve anything bad. You know you won't change my opinions anyway.

The media have given Farage a platform whilst ignoring other parties. He should be thanking the BBC. There's money behind him for things like GBN.

It is a shitshow, but I'm not sure the UK public are the sheep you paint them as even if political engagement is way down.

Farage is clever and knows the populist playbook. That doesn't mean he's worth voting for.

in reply to Steve

No, it's the other way around. You have it in for me because I'm a Conservative. That's why you constantly goad me. But that's OK; it's water off a duck back to me.
in reply to dick_turpin

I've never wished any harm on you though. I just think you are wrong on many things despite your unwavering self-belief.
in reply to dick_turpin

That's probably an exaggeration. It's Labour which will be let in. Reform might make their presence felt but they won't be the leading player.
in reply to Neil Darlow :gotosocial: :silverblue: :xmpp:

I'm convinced (For the minute) ReformUK will be the opposition. That's still "In" in my book.

What needs to be taken into consideration is that parties like the Greens are picking up [tactical] votes. I'm really worried the Tories could be fourth or worse. Some might naively think that's good, but it will be terrible for the UK, in my opinion. This country needs an experienced, established opposition.

in reply to Andy C

@andyc @neil I'd expect the Tories will still be second unless it goes even worse than predicted. Reform might get 3 seats. FPTP means that share of the vote has little impact if it's spread across the country..

Ah well, in 2 weeks we shall find out.

in reply to Andy C

It looks like they will at the minute. Obviously, we've had shocks on polling day before. Just look what happened when Corbyn forced a vote of no confidence, but I have this feeling the "Change" everyone has clamoured for for the past forty-plus years we might actually get.
in reply to dick_turpin

@neil Sorry - what's your source for this prediction ? If you honestly believe that, get down the bookies now and get £100 on it.

You understand how FPTP works, right ? 14% in the polls is meaningless in terms of seats.

'In its first MRP model of the 2024 general election, Ipsos estimated Labour could win 453 seats and the Conservatives 115, giving Keir Starmer’s party a majority of 256 and inflicting the Tories’ worst ever defeat'.

You shouldn't underestimate the LibDems. Action Man will be picking-up votes across the board just because of negativity to everyone else.
in reply to Neil Darlow :gotosocial: :silverblue: :xmpp:

@neil Ed Davey has run a very odd campaign. Has he completely lost it or just desperately hoping to show 'he's down with the kids' ? Bloody weird. Hard to take him seriously. Plus he was partially culpable for the PO scandal. And yet bizarrely he seems quite proud of his antics.
in reply to Andy C

Doesn't he remind you of someone else when they were running for London Mayor?

in reply to dick_turpin

Even if the tories come third in vote share, they’ll still not be third in seats. If we had proportional representation, it’d be a different story.

Agree on the need for a solid opposition, and I do worry slightly about what will be left in terms of quality on the opposition bench in the next parliament.

@neil

in reply to Jamie

Exactly!
The attached image is a bit out of date (Labour 406 seats). I saw a projection yesterday that Labour would gain 526 seats. My own view is the Greens are pathetic, LidDem are useless, SNP (Who?) NI, Plaid and the rest of the Heinz 57 lot will never be able to form a viable safety net. Having said that, who knows what will happen on polling day? We've seen the pollsters get it massively wrong before.
