For crying out loud. How hard was that?

𝗡𝗲𝘄𝗚𝘂𝘆: "So the customer's hard drive has failed, and he says there's important data on it, and the base unit has an asset number. Do you know where the records for asset numbers are kept?

𝗠𝗲: "Hmm? Well, they should be in the contract, but I bet they aren't. TBH, it is unimportant. Basically, we need to swap the drive out, re-install and take the machine back; we can worry about files on dead drives later."

𝗡𝗲𝘄𝗚𝘂𝘆: "But I wanted to see what size the drive is."

𝗠𝗲: "You'll see that when we get the machine back here? Give the ticket to me; I'll sort it out [It'll be quicker if I do it by the looks of it!]." 🤦‍♂️

in reply to dick_turpin

he has probably come from somewhere with that kind of paperwork culture.
in reply to dick_turpin

Probably. Thing is, we carry stock of a range of SSD's which is what we will put in as a replacement, so "Needing to know" the HDD size is kinda irellivant.

Dear Mastodon

Please allow the exporting of followers. I really can't see the point of not allowing this because all I have to do is select all of my followers under my profile, copy them, and then paste them into a spreadsheet. The ballache is having to manually edit the content of the cells so that they can be imported into A-another instance.

Regards
Mr Fedup of Hersham.

I've seen my wife for a total of roughly 50 minutes since last Friday. Five minutes here, ten minutes there.

I shit you not

Me: "So I've done another cracking deal. We'll go and collect a new laptop from the customer, bring it back here and set up the new user, put all the required programs, VPN etc. on via intune, take the laptop back, and I'm charging £95 per user."

NewGuy: "They buy their stuff from Dell, don't they? Why don't they give Dell their AZURE keys, and Dell will put the programs on for them?"

Me: "GREAT! You've just stopped our company from earning around £6K a year for very little work."

Here's a thought. All these tanks that are being sent to Ukraine, are they really of much use or will they actually turn out to be a nightmare? They're all different, have different systems and, for all I know, different ammunition.

in reply to dick_turpin

Yes, it would be so much easier to send just one type of tanks. One spare part for the entire fleet instead of five different parts and five different trainings and five different maintenance manuals and ...

But how?

Each nation helps with what is in stock. Would it be better to say "we supply only tank XYZ in sufficient quantities"? Yes. Is it realistic? No!

It is what it is.

Militarily it's probably more harm than good although it will boost moral for a very short time.

My first thought was: "But it'll take weeks to ship those from the states?" (According to Google, it'll take 28 days) then I realised, The US is likely to strip its defences of tanks already deployed in Europe.

If you are going to issue codes, don't use i or L because how the fooking hell am I supposed to know which one when the code is: DDII75U

Twitter- Read Elon Musk- has sold off over 600 items, including the kitchen sink, in a bid to scrape together enough money to pay the first instalment of his loan, potentially $300M, next week.

Talking to the missus on how part of the NHS problem is that we are able to keep more and more people alive these days, she retorted: "Oh, well. We'll all live to be 200 years old then!"

It would seem, she may have to eat those words because some folk are already trying.

Thank The Pond Gods for that. You can't get the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W for the minute, so that means it's pointless buying any of the Argon Pod modules.

Oh, for the love of The Pond Gods!
I'm a sucker for @argon_forty stuff. I already have the ONE, the NEO and the EON.
TBH, it would just be an "Ooh! Shiny!" purchase I have no real use-case for the Pod System. Really tempted, though.

Really beautiful cases. And I don't have use-cases either 😂 nor money 🙄

People should be discouraged from using Social Media on their mobile phones because too many people use a mobile app to fire off a quick Tweet/Toot/Post without bothering to engage with their audience. If you sit at your computer or tablet, you're already in the zone for communicating.

A few years ago, on Google search results, you'd get two, maybe three "Paid For" results.

SomeResult

These days there's half a page of "Paid For" results.
Next time someone says: "Can I do your SEO? We'll get you first rankings!" ask them: "Are you paying Google for Ad placement then?" you can't get 1st place for free anymore.

The missus came home with that Yorkshire tea. "Ooh, it's really nice." she enthused. The dog hates it! And he loves a brew. Sunday, we had Yorkshire pork "Bred and slaughtered in Yorkshire." the label proudly announced. That geezer Jay Blades from the repair shop now has a program "Yorkshire Workshop." what is it with all this "Yorkshire" stuff?

Prince Harry is that classic knobhead who says shit like:

"Don't take this the wrong way."
"I'm not being rude but."
"In the nicest possible way"

And then goes on to insult the buggery fuck out of you.

The man is full of shit. While I think we do get value for money out of the royal family, it sticks in my throat the millions this country has spent only for him to turn around and insult the British public. If I had my way, I would remove every title he has and probably go as far as to remove his UK citizenship.
