FLU and COVID are currently competing for your body. Of course, some greedy feckers out there are inviting both in. There's always one gotta have it worse than you, isn't there? 😉

I've been ill all over Christmas. It looks like I gave it to my daughter. My neighbours are ill it's like diseased city at the minute.

But "it's all fine and freedom and gatherings and party and work and shit".

A&E is not in crisis. They could cope perfectly well if it weren't for one problem. There are 𝗡𝗢 𝗕𝗘𝗗𝗦 𝗔𝗩𝗔𝗜𝗟𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗘. There's nowhere to put anyone! This is why patients lay on trolleys in corridors, not because there are no nurses or doctors; there are no beds! Get that through your thick skull!

Just been in the spare room and literally ripped the Epson Expression Home XP-2200 Printer off the shelf and took it downstairs, and threw it by the bins. It's only printed once and now won't print the missuses return (pdf) label so guess whose fault that is? Piece of shit.

I blame myself for not checking. The damn thing was not supported under Linux. I'll get an HP when I get back to work.

Given the news reports we constantly see about how Mrs Miggins waited 18 hours for an Ambulance after a fall, will anyone notice the strike?

Why would you have "Make and offer" on your #ebay listing only to ignore the offer #ebay suggested I make? I mean, it was only £7.00 off the price.

Tempted to get a second #ArgonEon I have to say I prefer my current Eon to my QNAP TS-251, which is now switched off because the noise of it constantly accessing the drives was doing my head in. I need a 2nd NAS to back up the 1st NAS

It's almost like the Tories are clearing out the stables ready to enter the next General Election with a fresh deck?

For all those who think Labour's jazzy idea of getting rid of the House of Lords is a brilliant move against the so-called rich upper classes, I would point out that it is a dangerous move that will remove all control over governments.

parliament.uk/about/faqs/house…

in reply to chrisjrob

The answer is really simple. All it requires is a name change. Personally, I prefer "The Upper House." I don't even think it's necessary to kick out anyone with a title, given over half of them are former MPs anyway.
in reply to dick_turpin

Yes, potentially, but I think the key benefit to them being elected is the increased mandate it will give the house.

I was actually largely in favour of our rather idiosyncratic second chamber until recently, but have become increasingly concerned by some of the people being awarded peerages.

Sadly, I've had to mark one of Evan's threads "Ignore" four days in, and people are still commenting (Totally off-topic, I might add). I prefer Fab's definition of Microblogging:

"It's like standing on a bridge over a flowing river; you see something, watch it for a bit and then it's gone."

in reply to dick_turpin

I think a couple of hours or maybe the next day if someone is catching up, but four days is a bit excessive in my book.

You know, it hit me this afternoon that I've been on Mastodon since 2017, and then a bunch of Twitter users come along with their agendas of telling everyone that everywhere is full of haters, racists, paedophiles, and god knows what, and all of us folk that were happy with each other in our federated homes are now rushing out to set up our own instances so that we can protect ourselves from these scare mongers. #LeSigh

Those calling for that scare me more than Nazis or Racists because they are using the well-tried tactic of forcing dissenters into submission and silence. Tell them they're talking out their backside, and you'll be labelled a hater.

Don't get me wrong, I'm neither for nor against Musk, but I have to say in some areas, he has a point. I honestly think the former Twitter owners were so scared of vast sections of the Twitter userbase that they waived the ban and account delete baton with impunity. I know of a couple of cases where it was obvious that a simple moan over a pathetic Tweet earned the posters an immediate ban with little to no recourse, and I feel, IMO, this is what they are attempting to do with the Fediverse. I'm just worried that Eugen Rochko et al. will roll over like a compliment dog and implement some sort of complete ban from the Fediverse rather than per instance.

OK, so I've not been watching it, but I'm going to absolutely piss myself if Matt Hancock wins "I'm a Celebrity."

If ever I became Prime Minister, the first thing I would do is move Parliament and the whole government apparatus to Lindley Hall Farm, Fenny Drayton, Leicestershire, because that is the centre of the UK according to Ordnance Survey.

Of course, the second thing I would do is increase my government's tenure from 5 to 10 years with a further 5-year extension option. 😉

I can agree on moving parliament out of London, but I'm glad you don't get to make these decisions

Seven years down the line, I still like the idea of creating a podcast episode out of Tweets or Toots. We just couldn't work out how it was achievable in a LIVE context, plus there was always going to be some moron tweeting, "Do Guppies have bollocks?" #tdtrs
in reply to Shredni Vashtar

Sounds interesting. If doing it live would be a problem, well, why does it have to be done live?
in reply to Jackie Plage

It was borne of our love of "Free fall conversation" whereby our discussions would run down myriad paths and ultimately ending a million miles off the original topic. The point being that we would have no idea where the episode would go.
#HappyTimes

Jesus. Is that all that former Twitter users can bring to the party? "Moderation" that's all I see in Toots. I just saw someone claiming that "The patchy Moderation" was a problem! No, it is not. We've been perfectly capable of behaving ourselves long before you came along; you can stop right there encroaching on my freedom and trying to control what I say and think, which is ultimately your goal hidden behind a thin veil of concern for safety.

@falgn0n I have to use the iamtoobusy cheat to play. Else I find myself engulfed in enemies before I've spawned anything!
in reply to Shredni Vashtar

@Shredni Vashtar well it's more than that: simple keybindings for selecting, say: "all fighters" or all of a class. When the fighters and the workers are all off gathering and the bad guys roll in and I suddenly have get all the fighters on deck but send the workers to hiding.

Doesn't work.
Maybe I've just been spoiled by games like CnC3 where it is so much easier to organise and rally my forces.
