I wish Mastodon gave you more options to sort your timeline.

I would like the ability to add lists. For example I'd probably create a list for news to keep track of accounts that post a lot or their news articles.

That way they don't clog up the timeline.

Anyone else feel the same way?

It would be nice if you could add accounts to lists without following. There's a lot of people that I'd like to check in on occasionally, but don't want them in my timeline.

Yeah but it doesn't quite do what I was looking for. You can add users to the lists but their posts still appear in the home timeline.

I think that depends on what front end you use. If you use the web login, then you can display a list choice in a column. So, for example, I display all my FOSS list users in their own column
