The problem with the BBC is that it's publicly funded. That means they don't have to worry too much about upsetting folk, which is why they allow presenters, program editors and producers to give one or two political parties a harder time than those they appear to favour. While the likes of ITV, CH4 & 5 have had their controversies, I don't remember them doing what the Beeb did? Maybe because they need to get money from the Public Sector rather than being bankrolled with a guaranteed income like the BBC is?
